Connor gets up and yells at the person Pip saw. He disappears into the woods, and Pip chases after him. When she finally catches up, Connor has lost whoever he was chasing. They’ve all gotten away from the tent and take 15 minutes to find where they set up camp. As they’re cleaning things up, Pip sees a white piece of paper with “Stop digging, Pippa” written on it. Pip accuses Connor of playing a prank, but he swears he didn’t leave the note. Pip is the last to fall asleep, still thinking about the note.
Pip begins to learn that one of the reasons why no one else has tried to uncover the truth of Andie’s disappearance is because some people don’t want the real truth to come out. The note causes Pip to feel paranoid, doubting whether the people around her like Connor are just playing pranks on her. This illustrates the dangers of trying to seek the truth when it goes against the popular perception.
