Mrs. Stubbs is the wife of Mr. Merle Stubbs and the mother of Junior Stubbs. In “The Phantom Brakeman,” the Stubbs parents show up at Grandma’s house to demand that Grandma help them foil Junior Stubbs’s plan to elope with Vandalia Eubanks. As wealthy town people, the Stubbses disapprove of the romance, which they believe will tarnish their reputation.
