Elmer Character Analysis

Elmer Abarca Lobo is Soledad and Rebeca’s father. He had to leave the village where Soledad and Rebeca grew up because of the lack of financial opportunity there and lives in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where he works as a cook in a hotel. When the village becomes dangerous because of the presence of cartels, his daughters come to live with him. Shortly after they get there, Soledad is coerced into a relationship with a thug named Iván, who soon wants to get his hands on Rebeca, too. To protect her sister, Soledad flee the country. The following week, Elmer is attacked on the street, likely by Iván in retaliation. Elmer eventually dies from his injuries.
