Dean “Moron” Moran
The sour aunt is a mysterious old woman that Jason meets living in the woods in the first part of the novel. By the end of the novel, he has learned that there is nothing supernatural about her and that she is just Mrs. Gretton, the mother-in-law of Joe the builder. When Jason tells his story to Mrs. Gretton and doesn’t stammer, this marks how much he has grown up over the course of a year.
