Two weeks later, Sam meets with Angel to let her know the results of her recent pregnancy test: she is pregnant. Neither of them knows where Leland has gone, and Angel finds an eviction notice at Guy’s apartment. She and Guy have one week to find enough money to pay the rent. Angel is angry, since Guy promised her that he would pay the rent, and she tells him she plans to look out for herself from now on.
Angel has always trusted that she could depend on Guy, but in his excitement about moving to Paris, he let her down and failed to pay rent. This breakdown in the most dependable part of Angel’s support network reinforces her belief that she is on her own with no one looking out for her.
