Geran is an old man who immigrates to New York at the end of the story. Julio, who’s inspired by the late Bodega’s support for the Latinx community, offers to host Geran and his grandson Hipolito until they get on their feet. Quiñonez uses Julio’s act of kindness to show that although Bodega was killed, his ideals live on through people like Julio.
