Cyril’s Mother Character Analysis

Cyril’s mother, a widow, is an older woman who takes pride in having raised a family and fulfilled her domestic duties. Cécile, Raymond, and Anne meet Cyril’s mother over tea at her rented villa. Anne defends Cyril’s mother against Cécile’s attacks on the older woman’s self-righteous pride in her “bourgeois” lifestyle, which Cécile adamantly claims is nothing to be proud of.
