Explanation and Analysis:
Narrative tone throughout Cloud Atlas varies wildly, colored by the changing narrators. Adam Ewing is rather anthropological, speaking with earnest, curious undertones that nevertheless fail to obscure his period-typical racism from the audience. Robert Frobisher's mischievous, nonchalant tone differs vastly from that of Sonmi and the Archivist, who are more serious and direct.
