Mood
Explanation and Analysis:

The mood of this novel ranges widely; it can go from somber, almost frightening descriptions of miracles and magic to ribald family fun or coarse sexual banter in the space of a few sentences. After the reader is introduced to the Pickles and Lamb families in the very intense scenes of the prologue and the first two chapters, they are immediately swept up in the house’s funny, chaotic daily life.
