Explanation and Analysis:
Dune Messiah blends science fiction and historical fiction, treating the life and rule of the Muad'Dib as a myth of some sort, canonized into the religious practices of the Fremen.
The novel is also a tragedy, akin to the likes of Macbeth or Hamlet. Paul, the central character, is cursed with fated foreknowledge of his lover's fate. Unlike Oedipus, or any number of the Greek tragic heroes, Paul serves as his own oracle. The prophecy cannot be written off or disregarded, because it exists within his head, tormenting him as he goes about his daily life.
