Timmy Towgate Character Analysis

A student in Mittie’s second-grade class, and Georgeanne and Nash’s son. Timmy tells his parents about Mittie’s accidental use of the word “dozen” after the High Island Council bans the use of the letter “Z”, and his parents subsequently report Mittie. Later, however, the school finds that Timmy turned eight earlier than his parents believed and he was therefore subject to the statutes banning the use of various letters (only children seven and under are exempt). Timmy is subsequently banished to the U.S. when Mittie cannot find anything in the school to prove that he is still seven.
