Myeongchul Character Analysis

Myeongchul, one of Sungju’s classmates in famine-stricken Gyeong-seong, is an enthusiastic talker and a talented actor who puts on skits at the train station to earn money. His ambition is to star in action movies. As the famine worsens, he joins a gang with his classmates Sangchul, Unsik, and Min-gook, which later includes Sungju, Young-bum, and Chulho. He is the first of the gang to die, suffering fatal wounds in the coastal city Rajin-Seonbong during a fight with another gang over territory.
