The Georgia Cop Character Analysis

Duke and Gonzo meet the police officer from Georgia outside the National District Attorneys’ Conference on Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, and he is the epitome of the clueless law enforcement official in attendance at the conference. Duke claims that the officers at the conference don’t “know mescaline from macaroni,” and the Georgia cop is no better. Duke and Gonzo tell him that “junkies” are taking over California, and to curb crime and drugs, they have started decapitating them. The Georgia cop immediately believes their far-fetched story and is completely onboard with killing innocent “junkies.” The character of the Georgia cop underscores how easily drug users are unfairly criminalized by law enforcement in American society.

Just the other day we had a case where they grabbed a girl right out of a McDonald’s hamburger stand. She was a waitress. About sixteen years old . . . with a lot of people watching, too!” “What happened?” said our friend. “What did they do to her?” He seemed very agitated by what he was hearing. "Do?" said my attorney. “Jesus Christ man. They chopped her goddamn head off right there in the parking lot! Then they cut all kinds of holes in her and sucked out the blood.”
