Nopatsis Character Analysis

One of the orphan brothers associated with the story of the Beaver Medicine bundle. In Pikuni legend, Nopatsis’s wife grows tired of his brother, Akaiyan, and after falsely accusing him of abuse, Nopatsis leaves his brother for dead on a deserted island. He later comes back to search for his bones, and Akaiyan, who has been taken in by a family of beaver, tricks him and in turn leaves his brother for dead. Nopatsis dies on the island and Akaiyan later comes back to find his bones.
