Franny and Zooey is a 1961 realist novel comprised of the short story “Franny” and the novella “Zooey,” which originally appeared in The New Yorker in 1955 and 1957, respectively. The novel follows siblings Franny and Zooey, the youngest members of the Glass family. The Glass family were frequent subjects of Salinger’s writing, so characters mentioned in Franny and Zooey also appear across his other works.
