Phil Meade is Dr. Meade and Mrs. Meade’s youngest son. While he is too young to join the war, he looks forward excitedly to the day when he’ll be old enough to join. Mrs. Meade tries to stifle his enthusiasm, not wanting to lose another son to the war. He is dispatched along with the Home Guard and the elderly and is soon killed.
