Sylvester Mills is a wealthy man who becomes an early follower of Matthias’s cult. Matthias first recruits Elijah Pierson as a benefactor, but shortly after, he recruits Sylvester Mills and moves into Mills’s home because it’s more luxurious than Elijah’s. Matthias exploits Mills’s wealth, and in exchange, Matthias offers Mills a leadership position in the cult. Mills is an active cult member until the cult collapses. Ultimately, Mills ends up in an insane asylum.
