Mrs. Doyle Character Analysis

Mrs. Doyle reaches out to Miss Lonelyhearts via a letter in which she asks to meet face-to-face and discuss her failed marriage to Mr. Doyle. Miss Lonelyhearts then invites Mrs. Doyle to his apartment, where they have sex and she confides in him about difficulties in her life, including how she regrets marrying her husband. Later in the novella, Miss Lonelyhearts has dinner with the Doyles, during which Mrs. Doyle flirts with him in front of her husband. When Mrs. Doyle and Miss Lonelyhearts are alone, she makes an advance on him, and he lashes out, beating her violently.
