Explanation and Analysis:
The setting of Elie Wiesel’s Night takes the reader between Hungary, Poland, and Germany. The first part of the book takes place in Eliezer’s hometown of Sighet, Hungary, where he and his family live in a peaceful Jewish community. Once the Hungarian Jews are deported from the ghettos, they are shipped out via cattle cars. The reader then follows Eliezer and his father Chlomo to different concentration camps throughout Poland and Germany.
