Joey Houghton Character Analysis

Peter’s older brother. At the time the shooting takes place, Joey is already dead, having been killed by a drunk driver, and he only appears in the narrative incidentally. Joey was known as a “golden boy” who had every possible positive characteristic—he is smart, talented, charismatic, athletic, and beloved by everyone. However, beneath this perfect exterior Joey was hiding several secrets. He bullied Peter viciously and was one of the main instigators of Peter’s torment at school. He was also a heroin user, a fact that Lacy only learns after his death.
