Dexter’s Father Character Analysis

Dexter’s father, Stephen Mayhew, is a wealthy man who lives in Oxfordshire with Dexter’s mother. During a visit, Emma calls him a “fascist” due to his conservative beliefs. At times, Dexter’s father judges Dexter harshly, particularly once Dexter gets involved in television. Still, he ultimately cares about Dexter. After the death of Dexter’s mother, Dexter’s father seems diminished, although the two of them have a quiet moment of understanding when he gives Dexter advice about how to live as a widower after the death of Emma.
