Death Zone Term Analysis

The death zone refers to altitudes above about 26,000 feet, above which there isn’t enough oxygen to sustain human life for long periods. Zopa warns Peak and Sun-jo, for instance, that they only have 18 hours to reach Everest’s summit and get back to Camp Six (or reach the first camp on the Nepal side) once they enter the death zone, or they’ll risk death.
