Prior’s Father Character Analysis

Prior’s father visits Craiglockhart briefly to see Billy Prior and speak to Rivers. In his conversation with Rivers, Prior’s father embodies the worst aspects of masculinity and he utterly resents his son’s status as an officer and his psychological breakdown, announcing that he’d rather Prior were shot by a bullet instead, since then he might have a little sympathy for him.
