The Soldan of Egypt is Zenocrate’s father. Incensed over his daughter’s kidnapping and assuming that she’s being held against her will, he and the King of Arabia (Zenocrate’s arranged fiancé) gather an army to rescue her and take revenge on Tamburlaine. Though his rage over his daughter is understandable, the Soldan does not otherwise differ from the rest of the pigheaded rulers who are enraged by the audacity of a Scythian shepherd. As with the others, Tamburlaine destroys him easily, but he has promised beforehand to spare his life for Zenocrate’s sake, in a rare moment of mercy.
