The Bear: Scene 7 Summary & Analysis

Summary
Analysis
Luka serves Smirnov water and tells him that Popova is sick and won’t see him. Smirnov orders him out and then continues to complain. He won’t leave until he gets what he wants. He orders Luka back to bring him vodka and, while waiting for his drink, takes in his own appearance. He’s not dressed properly for the occasion, which Luka remarks on lightly, just to be barked at again.
Smirnov recognizes he is a bit forceful and bear-like. This does not stop him from continuing to curse or act crudely, even if he is a bit embarrassed. He is able to rationalize any of his actions to preserve his ego.
