The Downstairs Girl: Chapter 34 Summary & Analysis

Summary
Analysis
In fact, it is Old Gin at home. Billy Riggs ran into him and left him beaten and bloodied. Jo blames herself for going to see Billy Riggs earlier. She despairs that they don’t have any way to pay for a doctor, and without one, Old Gin will die of his wounds. Just as Jo is wondering what to do next, she hears a woof.
This passage shows how Old Gin’s lack of money and social status makes it difficult for him to get medical treatment.
