The Fellowship of the Ring: Genre 1 key example

Book 1, Chapter 2
Explanation and Analysis:

Like the other two books of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring is a fantasy epic. It follows a hobbit (a short, humanoid race of Tolkien's own invention) named Frodo Baggins on his quest to conceal and destroy a dangerously powerful ring. The novel combines the conventions of fantasy literature, including wizards, dragons, magical artifacts, elves, dwarves, and curses,  with the grand scale of epic literature.
