Maya Yang Character Analysis

Maya is a close friend of Starr’s at Williamson. She is on the basketball team with Starr and Hailey, and initially tries to keep the peace between the three. An Asian American, Maya later tells Starr that Hailey has made racist comments to her too about eating cat at Thanksgiving. The two form a “minority alliance” to call out Hailey’s prejudice.
