The Newspaper Clerk Character Analysis

The clerk at the local newspaper office. When Kovalev attempts to place an advertisement for his runaway nose, the newspaper clerk denies Kovalev’s request. The clerk at first fears that Kovalev's situation is a joke intended to make him look foolish, but he sticks by his decision even after Kovalev shows his face and proves that he is, in fact, missing a nose.
