The Sorrows of Young Werther

Mr. Schmidt Character Analysis

His ill-humor is the cause of a lengthy conversation between Lotte, Werther, and the Vicar’s Wife. Ironically, Werther condemns Schmidt’s mood, though his own mood will sour for much of the novel.
