Clarisa’s Husband Character Analysis

Clarisa’s husband is a judge who lives a life of almost complete seclusion in his bedroom. He locks himself away after the birth of their second child, who—like their first—is cognitively disabled. From then on, he only communicates with Clarisa through his door when she comes by to drop off his meals for him. The judge’s abandonment of his wife and children leaves Clarisa with the sole burden of caring for them all, and although she politely tends to her husband for the remainder of her life, there’s no love lost between them.
