Dr. David Kendrick Character Analysis

Kendrick is geneticist who works with Henry to determine the cause of his condition and work toward possible treatments. He initially dismisses Henry’s claims regarding time traveling but changes his mind after Henry provides details about Kendrick’s son Colin’s birth and Down syndrome diagnosis before he is born. Once he is convinced of the verity of Henry’s claims, he sets to work. His research provides Clare with guidance about how to maintain a pregnancy after she has multiple miscarriages. Kendrick, his wife Nancy, and the couple’s children become close family friends of the DeTambles during this time. After years of work, Kendrick determines that Henry’s age and health prevent him from undergoing any treatment. Certain he will soon die due to his condition, Henry asks the doctor to begin working on Alba’s genome instead. Clare resists this at first, so Henry and Kendrick draw a sample of Alba’s blood without Clare’s permission. Clare ultimately forgives them both, and Kendrick and his family are present at the New Year’s Eve party on the night of Henry’s death.
