Pat is Inez Cunningham’s niece. After her mother dies, Pat moves in with Inez and George. While Inez treats Pat terribly and kicks her out of the house, George becomes a distant but reliable father figure to her. George and Pat never grow very close, but they both appreciate their relationship because Pat has no parents left and George has no relationship with his actual children, Gerard and Sonya.
