Along with the 14-year-old Algerian boy, the boys kill their European friend because they heard that the Europeans want to kill all the Arabs. They couldn’t kill an adult, the 13-year-old-boy says, so they killed their young friend instead. The 13-year-old boy is further proof of the psychological effects of colonialism on the colonized.
