Hazel Character Analysis

Hazel is Rent Boy’s longtime on-again, off-again girlfriend at the beginning of the novel. She and Rent Boy rarely have sex because her father sexually abused her as a child, and she seemingly suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. After four years, Rent Boy splits up with Hazel, and she mostly disappears from the novel, illustrating how casually many of the male characters in the story treat the female characters.
