Vox: Chapter 72 Summary & Analysis

Summary
Analysis
Jean is terrified. Lin hurriedly signs that the chimp will be fully awake in less than two minutes. Jean and Lorenzo begin to quickly wheel the chimp back toward her cage, and Jean tells wide-eyed Jackie and Isabel to lock themselves in a closet for their safety. Jean screams for Petroski, who arrives and pulls his gun just as they reach the cage. As the chimp fully wakes up, Jean and Lorenzo haul her into her cage and slam the door shut. This still leaves Morgan, who can only leave the lab by passing through the animal cages. Lorenzo runs back toward Morgan. Jean follows a minute later—and realizes that Morgan, Lorenzo, and a syringe of poison are all in the same place.
Things get intense as the chimp and Morgan begin to wake up. Both pose threats to the novel’s heroes, but with the chimp returned to her cage, Morgan—and his connections, hunger for power, and cruelty—is the far more dangerous of the two.
