Irji Character Analysis

Irji is Sarima and Fiyero’s eldest son. Despite his position, he shows little desire for authority, often letting his younger brother Manek dominate and bully him. His closeness to his younger sister Nor is partly born from Manek’s cruelty. Elphaba deems Irji “feckless,” likening him to Frex and imagining that he will one day become just like her father. Near the end of the story, the Wizard’s soldiers capture Irji along with his family, and he is reportedly executed.
