Robert Greene

About the Author

In 1959, Robert Greene was born to Jewish parents in Los Angeles, California, where his father sold cleaning supplies. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he finished his bachelor’s degree in classics. After working a variety of odd jobs, including spending some time writing in Hollywood, Greene’s career changed in 1995, when he met up with book packager Joost Elffers and pitched the idea that would eventually become The 48 Laws of Power. The book was a massive bestseller, launching Greene’s career both as an author and as a public figure. While The 48 Laws of Power remains Greene’s best-known work, his follow-up, The Art of Seduction, was also a popular bestseller that applied the principles of The 48 Laws of Power to a different field. Greene has continued to write books about power and strategy, including The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law (co-authored with 50 Cent), Mastery, and The Laws of Human Nature. He lives in Los Angeles with his partner Anna Biller, who is a filmmaker.
