A young man who joins forces with Pangle and Stobrod Thewes after deserting the Confederate army. Reid is mercifully absent when the Home Guard attacks Stobrod and Pangle, so that he’s able to alert Ada Monroe and Ruby Thewes to the danger. In the end, we learn that Reid marries Ruby and has three children with her.
