This passage takes place in September 2013 and follows Henry as he navigates the early days of his deal with Luc. Henry attempts suicide after his girlfriend Tabitha rejects his marriage proposal, but Luc interferes, offering Henry a deal: in exchange for Henry’s mortal soul, Luc can make everyone like or want Henry, enchanting them to see in Henry the thing they most desire.
