Mr. Merle Stubbs Character Analysis

Mr. Merle Stubbs is the husband of Mrs. Stubbs and the father of Junior Stubbs, who works at his father’s insurance agency. In “The Phantom Brakeman,” the Stubbses show up at Grandma’s house demanding that Grandma help them foil Junior Stubbs’s plan to elope with Vandalia Eubanks. The Stubbses are wealthy town people, and the Stubbs parents disapprove of the romance, worried it will tarnish their reputation. Grandma, of course, has no patience for the Stubbses’ haughtiness and refuses to help them.
