Jerome Character Analysis

Jerome of Prague, a Czech theologian and follower of Hus. Both Hus and Jerome of Prague believed in the religious writings of John Wyclif, an English priest and early dissident of the Roman Catholic Church. Jerome of Prague was burned at the stake in 1416 for heresy against the Catholic Church, and he is seen as in important forerunner of the Protestant Reformation. Milton implies that since Jerome of Prague was influenced by John Wyclif, the Protestant Reformation actually began with an Englishman, not with the German Martin Luther as is usually assumed.
