Analysis
A wolf of the Seeonee Pack scouts out prey. He comes across a group of sambhur (a type of deer) and watches them drink at a pond. Excited, the lone wolf returns to his Pack and informs them of the deer. Together, the Pack begins their hunt. They track the deer down, howling as they go.
The songs following the stories in The Jungle Book serve to flesh out the preceding story’s themes. “Hunting Song of the Seeonee Pack” reinforces the notions that hierarchies exist among the animals and that working together as a group is essential for the group’s success.
