The Thing About Jellyfish: Chapter 26 Summary & Analysis

Summary
Analysis
The night before her science report, Suzy can’t stop thinking about jellyfish. Her mom walks in on her at 1:30 in the morning practicing the report and tells her it’s time to go to sleep. Suzy doesn’t say anything and isn’t sure how to explain how important it is that her report goes well and that everyone understands her.
Suzy used to talk a lot, but now that she’s gone silent, her jellyfish report becomes her outlet for all her thoughts and feelings. This is why it keeps her up late at night. Her obsession with getting the report right shows how much she wants the other students to understand the report, which signifies her desire to be understood in general.
