Brandon Perullo is a young opioid addict in Roanoke, Virginia, who makes the news in 2010 when he attempts to rob a bank. News reports focus more on the sensational nature of the attempted robbery than on the opioid addiction that led to his behavior. Once he is released from prison he dies, perhaps of suicide to avoid dopesickness (as his mother, Laura Hadden, believes).
